INEGI – Portugal
Products & Services
INEGI research activity covers the areas of new technologies for advanced production processes, experimental mechanics, applied mechanics, energy, new materials, development of new products and systems and biomechanics. The research infrastructure includes a broad set of well-equipped laboratories and an extensive engineering tools base for supporting its R&D activity as well as the production of industrial or commercial prototypes. INEGI´s experience in the project management of RTD projects and services, particularly involving industrial partners, is also to be highlighted.
UMEC in particular has valuable theoretical and practical experience in composites processing technologies such as Filament Winding, Pultrusion, Resin Transfer Moulding/Liquid Compression Moulding RTM/LCM, Autoclave, Weaved and Unidirectional Prepreg Materials, Braiding, Preforming Technologies, New Materials Development and Characterization, Damage Sensing and Structural Health Monitoring (SHM), as well as Finite Elements (FEM) Modelling. This experience has been translated into a wide range of national and international projects. UMEC’s competences cover the full range of composite materials development, from the tailoring of raw[1]materials (involving, for instance, the polymeric matrix and prepreg manufacturing), modelling and engineering design, process development (covering conventionally composites manufacturing processes, as well as emerging manufacturing technologies), to testing and monitoring of composite structures.
